Asymmetric Exchange Rate Pass-Through into Inflation in Turkey: A NARDL Approach

چکیده
Inflation expectation resulting from the exchange rate increases is one of widely discussed topics in literature. The extent effect pass-through on inflation, and duration impact are essential data that should be considered determining disinflation policies. literature findings show high level rises much faster especially dollarized economies with inflation inertia. On other hand, it has been revealed relationship between asymmetrical. Turkish economy, which struggles chronicle higher experienced a currency crisis 2018. Therefore, to analyse Turkey very important for effectiveness fight against developing policy proposal this direction. This study examined asymmetric relationships using nonlinear autoregressive distributed lag model 2004:Q1 – 2019:Q4. Findings indicate into long-run. Besides, decrease no statistically significant but an increase also short-run.

The Exchange Rate Asymmetric Pass-Through to Import Price Index: The Case Study of Iran
The main objective of this paper is to investigate the asymmetric effects of exchangerate on Iranian import price index using quarterly time series data over the period 1990- 2011. For this purpose, positive and negative shocks of the exchange rate have been separated from each other using dummy variables and the effects of the size of the exchange rate shocks by determining a threshold. The emp...
متن کاملThe Impact of Exchange Rate Pass-Through via Domestic Prices on Inflation in Iran: New Evidence from a Threshold Regression
There are various causes for inflation in macroeconomics. One of the important channels of experiencing inflation is through the international economy caused by external shocks. In this context, the impact of exchange rate volatilities on domestic prices known as Exchange Rate Pass-Through (ERPT) plays a vital role. The present paper deals with the impact of Exchange Rate Pass-Through on inflat...
متن کاملExchange rate pass-through in Iran: Exchange rate effects on the consumer price index
The purpose of this study is to find an accurate estimate of the exchange rate-CPI relationship in Iran over the past three decades. The results of the Granger causality test in the frequency domain demonstrate a strong causation from the exchange rate to CPI especially in the long run. The results of the wavelet analysis show that in the currency crisis periods, the exchange rate-CPI correlati...

The recent sharp appreciation of the Canadian dollar vs. the US dollar poses difficulties for the Canadian economy and reignites the debate as to whether Canada should fix the Canadian dollar to the US dollar by implementing a unilateral peg or forming a monetary union. We compare the welfare of different combinations of monetary and currency policies in an open-economy macroeconomic model that...
متن کاملAssessing exchange rate pass-through: A new empirical approach
Recent work by Devereux, Engel, and Storgaard (2004, JIE, pp. 286), suggests that one of the key channels through which monetary policy may work is by changing the degree of pass-through. Inspired by this observation, we develop a unified estimation framework within a fully specified open macroeconomic model where both pass-through and exchange rates are endogenously determined so as to empiric...
